The TCU Upward Bound Program assists high school students from seven target schools within the Fort Worth Independent School District (FWISD). The program provides the extra academic support needed for college entry and success. Program services are provided, after school, Monday through Thursday during the academic year. Students have the opportunity to experience college life during the summer program.
The purpose of the TCU Upward Bound Program is to generate, within program participants, the skills and motivation necessary to complete programs of secondary education and to prepare them academically to enter and succeed in a program of post-secondary education.
The TCU Upward Bound Program provides academic tutoring that assists students to complete secondary or post-secondary courses. Areas of instruction and tutoring are offered in the following academic ares:
- Written recommendations for scholarships
- Academic support in courses such as Math, Science, English, Foreign Language, etc.
- Cultural Activities
- Guest Speakers
- Program access to university resources (educational research & fitness)
- College residential experience during the summer component
Assistance is provided in preparing for college entrance examinations and in completing college admission applications.
